Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Group Settings Versus Family Settings
Introduction
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) aims to change and substitute current misconceptions,
emotions and behavior with those which are stronger and more appropriate, leading to an
alleviation of the present problem (Ozabaci, 2011).
Group setting
The obvious success of the group approach in CBT on the basis of efficacy and cost-
effectiveness. It is therefore essential that methods designed particularly for a group approach are
continued and established. The CBT group therapy therefore continues to develop in literature,
providing more and more services (Squires & Caddick, 2012). Few CBT groups discuss how the
community members communicate with each other and with a therapist in a constructive manner.
In addition, they may communicate with each other, not just with community members when two
therapists occur. Finally, there is a context in which "the group" communicates throughout the
entire procedure with each individual member (Ozabaci, 2011).
