I think certain emotions can effects how we make decisions. For example, if your
calm and collected you have a better chance at making a smart choice. That's the
positive, but as for negative i feel like the most common emotions are anger and
fear. because when we feel those emotions we tend to react quickly and make bad
decisions because we are too upset or too scared to think clearly. But being calm can
really help with reasoning and breaking down what you are thinking. That's why
when you are in a situation that involves police or any emergency service the first
thing they tell you is to stay calm. Because some people may act abruptly and make
a bad decision that can harm themselves or others.
Lately I've been working on my emotions when it comes to making decisions. Mostly
anger and excitement, When i get excited about something i don't stop to think
realistically. I tend to just believe whatever is happening is a great idea and that it
will %100 work out. And on the other hand if i get angry i lose control of my mind
and i do things without intentionally trying to do it. So when i get upset i use the
walk away tactic. Its really been helping, if i lose my cool i just walk away from the
situation regain my thoughts and return to make things right. I think that's just part
of growing up and becoming an adult. We all have to learn at some point. I have
used the walk away method plenty of times. Recently at work, My boss was being
very difficult with me and he was making me very upset. And as the conversation
went on my anger got worse. Because he was asking me to something that was
nearly impossible for me to do. And he wasn't being reasonable. So i stood up and
told him i needed a minute to clear my head. He was annoyed at first, but later that
day he it was very smart for me to leave the room because things would have
escalated badly if i had stayed.
I think communication differs from person to person when it comes to critical
thinking. I know for me i communicate with my body language more than verbal
communication. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing but I just find it
easier to sit back and listen/observe. I get a feel of what i'm dealing with and then
figure out how to address it. That's helps me a lot, I'm not great with groups. I am
not a group type of person. I am very to myself and i get shy when i'm around more
than like 2 people at a time. I just tend to clam up and say less. But with that I've
learned how to observe and listen very well. So when someone asks me a question
i'm not completely clueless. Or i use my body language to avoid certain
conversations.
I enjoyed watching the videos this week. I think they really had a lot of good
information in them. I never realized how much i use my emotions and
communication to make decisions. I think its interesting to see how others react and
respond with their emotions.
