Reflecting back on problem solving through the years, I have found that using the
approach of having a continuous learner mindset has worked for me. This has
allowed me to work through problems that I face with the understanding that I may
not currently know the solution, but I will eventually if I keep working at it.
I find that a potentially difficult situation I may face as a new student is funding for
my education. I want to borrow as little as possible, so that leaves a lofty goal ahead
of me to save for school. I do not anticipate any technology or motivational issues.
I plan on addressing this potential situation by saving, applying for tuition
reimbursement from my employer and being open with my counselor about potential
hindrances in funding.
In the past I've done online classes for almost two years, at the beginning I
encountered problems that I had to solve. The challenges was mostly coming from
time management, not being able to balance time from work and home life. It took a
few months to figure out how to balance time and when I was able to things got
easier. My journey this time around I'm taking what I learned from the past to apply
it now and be able to succeed from my mistakes in the past. Returning back to
school concerns I have mainly would be funding for my classes and tuition. With me
being in contact with the financial department and turning in forms for my funding is
keeping me up to date so I can have less stress worrying about it and focusing more
on school.
Before beginning this class I explored the online resources and got familiar with the
site, I did the same technique when I took classes before. It has made things easier
by being comfortable with the site and how to navigate it instead of spending time
doing it at the last minute. The technical support I've had to call with some issues I
had and they are a great support staff to solve any problems. Exploring the site has
been a very beneficial activity that I have done to help me get prepared for a
successful college experience. In future reference if I ever have any issues that arise
I know I have a tech support that will be on call and support from the staff that can
answer any questions or concerns I might have. At the beginning their was
information that I didn't understand until I started using my resources to figure them
out. Examples would be figuring out how to navigate the site, What to expect from
my student funding and by navigating the site and talking to the staff it has kept me
updated to this point, with all the things I've done to prepare me I'm ready for this
school year.
In terms of strengthening my academic readiness, I found that the mock class that I
took to give me a look into how the course would be outlined was helpful.
