After taking the proficiency test, I scored the lowest in making effective decisions
and organizing financial information. To be honest, I’d say that both are pretty
accurate. I’m an impulse buyer, which would explain why I have 7 cars in my yard
(yes, they all run and most are sports cars) and more shoes than I have space for. No
one person needs as many cars I have (I think I may have an addiction). I don’t keep
records of what I spend, I never have. Not keeping a record and buying on impulse
has cost me more money than I’d like to know. I’m at the age where I should be
better prepared for my future but I’m not.&
Over the past couple days, I’ve realized that I need to get serious about my future. I
have to pay more attention to what I spend and keep better records. I’ve got to set
myself a budget and make better decisions. The calculator helped me see what I
need to be putting away in order to save for my future. I want to be able to enjoy my
later years and I must plan for that.&
