The four steps involved in supporting reliable information, as expressed by Bovee and
Thill:
1. Plan your research.
2. Locate the data and information you need.
3. Process the data and information you located.
4. Apply your fundings.
The most challenging step, for me, would be to locate the data and information. There
are many search engines and websites that seem like they can help like Bing, Google
and Wikipedia. Even though there is so much information available to us, there is also
information that is not true or used to persuade readers. In my previous classes, and
in this current class, I was taught which websites can be used to find reliable
information, such as website ending in .org or .gov. The university library is also a
big help when looking for information in books or articles from the past and the
present. There are also search engines that are just for finding information that is
credible for the report. I have also been taught, when using information straight from
a source or paraphrasing, how to properly cite the information that has been used. The
four steps involved in supporting messages with reliable information are planning
research, locating information data, processing data and applying the findings. I feel as
the most challenging step of all four would be applying the findings since you would
need to make sure you have everything in order and correct before you send out your
message. All the other steps seem easier to put into order its the final step that can
take more time. The courses I have taken so far at University of Phoenix have helped
me prepare for the research process very well I have learned so much from all the
courses I have taken and everything has been great to know. As for in the work place
I feel I know how to construct the right emails for the right times and what needs to
be in them and what is too much information. The four steps involved in supporting
messages with reliable information include planning the research, locating the required
data and information for the research, processing that the located data and information,
and managing the information in an efficient manner (Supporting Your Messages with
Reliable Information, 2019). Out of these steps, the most challenging step is processing
the captured data and information. In order to process the information, it is necessary
to use statistical analysis and other processing. This further makes the step more
complex and challenging in nature. The courses at the University of Phoenix have
helped significantly to prepare for the research process that is necessary for proper
report writing. The modules that have been covered have helped to adopt an integrated
approach while working on a topic. For instance, the subjects focus on the quality and
reliability of information as well as the language that is used for report writing. Such
an approach has played a key role in the dynamic academic backdrop. The holistic
approach is of critical importance as it enables a learner to value the importance of
business communication and integrating reliable and authentic piece of information in
the research paper. The courses have helped to get a thorough insight into the different
steps that are involved in supporting the intended message with factual information.

Plan your research. Planning is the most important step of any research project; a solid
plan yields better results in less time.
Locate the data and information you need. Your next step is to figure out where
the data and information are and how to access them.
Process the data and information you located. The data and information you find
probably won’t be in a form you can use immediately and may require statistical
analysis or other processing.
Apply your findings. You can apply your research findings in three ways:
summarizing information, drawing conclusions, and developing recommendations.
Manage information efficiently. Many companies are trying to maximize the return on
the time and money invested in business research by collecting and sharing research
results in a variety of computer-based systems, known generally as knowledge
management systems. the four steps I came across were to plan the research, locate
the information, process information, apply findings. Planning the research is focusing
on what you're researching. Having a plan saves time. Locating the information step
consists of finding the necessary avenues for your specific research. Processing the
information is weeding out the unnecessary parts of the research that do not benefit or
support your message. Lastly, applying the findings involves summarizing, drawing
conclusions and providing recommendations. I think locating the information would be
the most challenging because we have the luxury of having many different resources
available to us. For example, google, University Library, libraries and books. However,
not everything is credible. We have to essentially research to research to make sure
we aren't providing false information to support our message. The four steps involved
in supporting your messages with reliable information is to analyze the situation, gather
your information, select the right combination of media and channels, and then to
organizing your information. All of these steps are very important to be able to figure
out how to get your message across to others. In my personal opinion I think selecting
the right combination of media and channels would be the most challenging because
there are so many different places and ways to get your information now days. Of
course everyone wants to make sure they have the correct information. Its like Fox
News and CBS, they share the same information but in completely different ways, by
turning the subject into a positive note or negative. I have always felt like I have had
a hard time writing papers through school no matter what I was writing and I think
University of Phoenix has helped me a lot. Mostly this class because it is really the
first class on here that I have taken that really shows you the in and outs on how to
write a proper report in the workplace. The four steps that are involved in supporting
your messages with reliable information is number 1. Plan your research (a solid plan
yields a better results in less time.) 2. Locate the data and information that you need
3. process the data and information you located 4. apply your findings and lastly mange
information efficiently. In my opinion the step that might be the most challenging is
number 2 . Having to locate the information that you need. Because you have to find
out where the information is located, then you have to find out how to access the
information it is that you need. sometimes you have to deeply do some research
information is not going to always just be right there in front of you in black and
white. you actually have to put some thought into whatever it is that you are doing.
The courses that i have taken so far have prepared me for research by showing me
the correct steps to take when it comes down to doing the research. also it have shown
me different strategist that i can use to prepare for the research that i'm doing. When
preparing to write a long messages there are steps to take to ensure you are supporting
your message with reliable information. Is the source have a reputation for honesty and
reliability, is the source potentially biased, where did the source get the information,
and is the author credible.

that I have taken through University of Phoenix has help me with research a great
deal to prepare me for writing in a workplace. By using the Centre of Writing
Excellence, it help me with grammar basics to putting the finishing touches on my
papers. I did download Riverpoint Writer to help with in-text citations which I am still
working on. The University of Phoenix Library is a good place to get reliable
information. The four steps involved in supporting a message with reliable information
is planning your research, locating data and information, evaluating information sources,
and using your research results. Of the listed steps that I would find most challenging
is either planning your research or locating data and information. I tend to procrastinate
which leaves me minimal time to plan my research and with procrastination it also
forces me to usually go with the first resource I locate when I need supporting
evidence for any message. I tend to do this because I usually rush to get things done
and by doing this I risk using sources with outdated information or using information
that may have a bias.
