International Plastics Inc. has four physical locations and are interconnected by a WAN. The
WAN connection between corporate headquarters and the China facility is specially defines as a
satellite link. The current network infrastructure of International Plastic Inc. needs to be updated
and upgraded as this network is quite outdated and in risk of data loss due to lack of security.
Security is a major issue as with the new technology advancement, hackers are getting smarter as
they gain the ability to locate vulnerabilities. Hence the security system needs to be updated as it
provides new function and features.
The backbone is upgraded to 10GBaseT with CAT6 cabling to desktops which will minimize
latency and increase productivity. The network will be much faster which will support VoIP
services. New computers were introduced along with updated operating system; Window Server
2019, Windows 10, Unix, Linux. The cloud storage is introduced to corporate headquarter which
will allow to store and filing of all company files and documents and create a backup file. The
R&D function, which has 1000BaseF network backbone was upgraded to 10GBaseT network
backbone along with the addition of OSX server, WAP, and MAC. This will provide less
interruption and latency.
The current T2 internet connection from Albany and Pontiac to the corporate headquarters and
the T3 internet connection between corporate headquarters and China headquarters will be
upgraded to OC-3 line with VPN which will increases the speed of data and provide the
bandwidth and security. All the networking devices will be standardized to a single vendor as it
will be smooth in processing data.
