International Plastics, Inc., E-commerce Proposal
E-commerce is the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data,
over an electronic network, primarily the internet. It is about digitally enabled commercial
transactions between and among organizations and individuals. With the new technology
advancement, most customers and organization has been adapting internet as a platform to
conduct business.
In the last decade, widespread use of e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and eBay have
contributed to substantial growth in online retail. E-commerce accounted for 5.1% of total sales
in 2007 and made 16.0% in 2019.
This proposal is about the e-commerce integration into International Plastics, Inc. E-commerce
integration provides data transfer with e-commerce platform and the five critical components of
accounting, inventory, sales, CRM, marketing. It improves speed of data exchange between
multiple systems, improve data accuracy, streamline business processes and eliminate redundant
steps, eliminate manual and duplicate entry.
The process of e-commerce integration into the company needs to carry out by creating an e-
commerce department responsible for developing an e-commerce presence map, a timeline and
utilize search engine optimization service to begin the integration process. E-commerce can be
conducted using a variety of applications such as e-mail, online catalogs, social media, websites
Electronic Data Interchange, mobile devices, the file transfer protocol. This includes business-to-
business activities and outreach such as using email for unsolicited ads, sending out e-newsletters
to subscribe and SMS texts to mobile devices. Amazon, eBay, Walmart Marketplace, Chewy,
Alibaba, Newegg are few examples of e-commerce marketplace platforms. Shopify,
WooCommerce, Magento, Oracle SuiteCommerce are vendors offering e-commerce platform
services for clients hosting their own online store sites.
For successful implementation of integrating e-commerce into International Plastics, Inc., is
dependent on adopting following steps:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services, a digital marketing strategy can be used to make
improvements on and off a company’s website to gain more in search engine. This will lead
more customers finding the company as it will increase the visibility of a company’s website.
Business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce is the electronic exchange of products, services or
information between businesses. This e-commerce business model will put procurement on the
fast track to streamlining by allowing supply-chain partners to link information systems over the
internet seamlessly. It will cut order-management and inventory costs and activities.
International Plastics, Inc., e-commerce platform should have three planks:
InternationalplasticsB2B- This e-commerce platform links company to customers and
suppliers
www.internationalplasticsinc.com- This is an e-commerce site connected to company’s
ERP system that provides function to customers to submit orders, check order status and
perform other order-management operations.
www.iplastics.com- This website provides key technical and product information,
including literature for customers.
Mobile e-commerce features online sales transactions made using mobile devices. This includes
mobile shopping, mobile banking and mobile payments and also provide e-commerce
opportunities to businesses, allowing consumers to complete transactions with companies via
voice or text conservations.
The rise of e-commerce has forced IT personnel to move beyond infrastructure design and
maintenance to consider numerous customer-facing aspects, such as consumer data privacy and
security. When implementing e-commerce activities for International Plastics Inc., data
governance-related regulatory compliance mandates, personally identifiable information privacy
rules and information protection protocols must be considered.

Good job on this paper. I like how you integrated eCommerce into the company. The
strategies seemed logical and practical to implement. In today’s world, Mobile
Commerce and Social Media play a big part in businesses. Online activities require
companies to prepare their IT infrastructure to support those transactions. B2B and B2C
utilize many emerging trends to gain competitive advantages. There are still challenges
that businesses would have to face whether it’s the security of the IS, con-icts between
brick & mortar vs. online, changes in consumer behaviors, laws and regulations, etc.
The /rst scenario is the Business to Consumer (B2C) process. The B2C model
establishes a customizable online retail experience to rapidly bring buyers and sellers
together by eliminating many of the con-icts associated with the traditional o3ine
physical aspects. Through a web interface, customers can gather enough information
about products or o4er to make informed decisions about making a purchase.5The
payments should be processed immediately to expedite the delivery of these
commodities by shipment from the nearest location.5Some strategies include creating a
web presence on social media such as Facebook and YouTube. This may help assist in
opening up their market for potential new customers across the globe. With YouTube,
the company can introduce current and new products on the channel for marketing
purposes. The process is set up so the consumer can collaborate online to provide
feedback to vendors as well as to interact with another customer of similar interest.5
It's also a good idea to integrate a web analytics service into the website, such as
Google Analytics. These types of analytics services provide very useful data about the
customers that visit a website.5An example of the data that can be captured is how
many people visit the website, location information about the web session, what pages
or items do they view, and which keyword searches work the best.5The collected data
can also be broken down by geographical region so that sales and marketing
information can be analyzed to see which regions purchase the most of certain types of
products. This web service can be integrated into many platforms, which include the
Facebook page and YouTube channel in order to analyze and guide the e4ectiveness of
the sites.
The second scenario is the Business to Business (B2B) process. This model will allow the
company and its trading partners to conduct daily activities electronically through E-
commerce and E-procurement business transactions from selected websites. It’s critical
to forming a long-term relationship with partners. The e4ects of some stable
relationships will enhance E-commerce operation through cost savings, increasing
speed, reducing errors and eliminating manual activities.5Functionally the process is set
up to seamlessly incorporate SCM, ERP & CRM systems to run smoothly to streamline
the delivery of the right products to the shelf at the right time.5
The third scenario is the Mobile commerce (M-commerce) process. it’s the future trend
that’s changing the shopping experience. Mobile devices, engineered with enhanced
security and no physical constraint, are the predominant device connecting to the
internet. It’s a handy shopping companion to make us smarter consumers to /nd
retailers, compare prices and identify what’s in stock.5Having an app in Google Play
Store or Apple App Store5enhances the customer's buying experience because it o4ers
convenience, speed, and credibility.5
The functional requirements for the site and app should include, but are not limited to
the following:5
Accessibility 7 days a week, 24 hours a day
Customer accessibility to view products, to include product information
Must have search functionality
Must automatically recognize repeat customers
Complete entire transaction electronically (selection – purchase)
Allow customer feedback
Responsive web design
Content should support Search Engine Optimization
Good mobile experience (simplicity and performance)
Responsive content to user queries
Must integrate into ERP, CRM, and SCM5
Employee access to customer information to allow for better customer
experience
Must be integrated across all operational departments5
