Buying a computer is never an easy task. with so many different things to consider when
buying you never want to just get anything. If I had a friend that needed my help picking
out a computer I would tell them to think about what they are going to use the
computer for the most. I don't know much about all the technical parts of a computer
yet, but I do know that you dont want a computer that has a lot of memory, if you are
going to use it for streaming or shopping. You want to do your research no matter what
you know about computers. Ask as many questions as you need, go to stores that have
displays and play around on the computers ,ask the sales associate questions as well.
The manufacturers website is also a great way to learn more about their products. Read
any review that you can find, you never know what can be useful so try multiple ways of
gaining information. As you gain more information it will be easier to understand which
computers are better for gaming, streaming, pictures, watching movies. you can then
decide if memory, processing speed,storage, graphics, and many others is more
important for what you need. No matter your level of expertise with computers whether
you can put one together on your own, or if you are like me and can barely find the start
button you always want to do your research and take you time in making a decision.
If I was making a recommendation to a friend about the type of computer they should
get for their specific needs, the first thing i would ask would be whether the computer
needs to be able to travel(Laptop vs Desktop). In my time in the Air Force I was stationed
in Okinawa Japan and taught myself how to build a desktop, so if my friend did not
specifically need a laptop then I would build the desktop for them. Now If they require a
laptop, I would suggest the HP ProBook 640 G5 Notebook PC. I would suggest this
specific laptop because I have used this laptop for much more than just editing photos
and browsing the internet. But if they were looking for specs for laptop, I would say they
best things for them to have would be, at least 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB SSD internal drive,
16 GB PCIe® NVMe™ Intel® Optane™ Memory for storage acceleration, Integrated UHD
graphics card, at least 2 3.0 USB ports, Intel core processor and of course Windows 10
operating system and for editing photos i would suggest buying adobe creative cloud as
well as Photoshop, and Mcafee antivirus.
