Reflection
This week I really enjoyed the assignments as well as last week. Something I learned that is
interesting is when operating on Linux, or any operating system for that matter, you should be
the root user or administrator so you can have the appropriate permissions to complete the task at
hand. In addition, I learned some common Linux commands that will be beneficial to my future
career such as, yum, apt-get, and ps. When you want to download solid and stable distributions
that are not in testing packages, you would need to use the yum command to install them from
the Red Hat package manager. However, if you wanted to download stable or unstable packages
that are still in testing, you would need to use the apt-get command to download them from the
Debian package manager.
The most interesting thing I learned from this lesson was how to manage files, ownership, and
permissions on Linux system. These skills will be extremely beneficial to my future career
because people in the cyber security field like to work with Linux because a lot of organizations
use it based on the fact that it can be a bit more secure and cost-efficient.
