Hunter is adapting well to social situations inside and outside of our home. Outside of the
home, Hunter has adapted well to being around his classmates. He usually works cooperatively
in groups, usually respects rights and property of others, and demonstrates appropriate peer
social interaction. Inside the home, Hunter works well with his brother Waylon and like to teach
him new things. Behaviorally, Hunter acts very well around others. Hunter was usually
appropriately active during recess and physical games, and appropriately quiet during periods of
work in the classroom setting. He did not show an unusual amount of impulsive or distractible
behavior when looking at his school report. The teacher notes that, “sometimes Hunter over-
reacts to stressful situations and can become anxious, moody, or slightly depressed. With
encouragement, he usually seems to come out of it before the day ends.” I think that Hunter’s
emotional problems are due to his classical conditioning which is, “a form of learning whereby a
conditioned stimulus becomes associated with an unrelated unconditioned stimulus, in order to
produce a behavioral response known as a conditioned response” (LibreTexts). The textbook
shows that this is one of the theories of cognitive development that is most likely affecting
Hunter’s emotional wellbeing. We have worked on Hunter’s emotional problems by using
positive reinforcement when stressful situations occur. The book states that positive
reinforcement, “involves adding something to the situation in order to encourage a behavior”
(LibreTexts). My partner and I use positive reinforcement by taking Hunter out of the stressful
situations and giving him time to calm down. We also add in snacks or games when he does
something right.
Hunter has exceeded greatly in cognitive and language skills since the age of four. Some
of his strengths have to do with his language arts skills. His grade evaluation makes this evident
through the teach stating, “"Demonstrates strength" in the areas of speaking and listening and in

content knowledge of social studies and science. "Demonstrates strength" in reading and
writing.” Hunter was not found to have any special needs and excels greatly in cognitive and
language development.
Hunter used to struggle greatly when it came to communicating with others. When he
was younger, he struggled making friends and working within a group. Since then, Hunter now
can work well when working with a group, but he is still shy and introverted. Hunter no longer
struggles with directions and instead attentively listens and follows directions.
