A VIrtual Private network is defined as a computer network that is constructed from
the system resources of a relatively public network. Some of the security risk that
may be associated with VPNs are the network may be attacked from the VPN
session and decryption of the traffic. This is titled a man-in-the-middle attack risk
which is described as happening due to misuse of SSL certificate. One method
mentioned to mitigate these risk are the use of a VPN gate. The VPN gate was used
for bypassing firewalls, hiding IP addresses, and anti packet sniffing. This explains
software is being used for the delevopment to make sure VPNs are not interfered
with.
The effects of penetrating testing allow companies to plan out procedures and find all
vulnerabilities within systems. Since working from home data from companies are
risking information that is vital within the company. It allows the company to make
decisions on how security should work while employees are working remotely. The
company also will maintain their reputation for following laws and regulations of data
sharing and protecting customer information.
