Using Social Engineering Techniques to Plan an Attack ; this lab
demonstrated the steps a would-be hacker would use to gather information and I
found this to be very useful for my current position. The lab also revealed how
easily social engineering exploits data from an unsuspecting user another
datapoint I didn’t know before.
Conducting Vulnerability Scanning using Nessus proved to be another lab
that I found very useful. I learned that Nessus scanning has the ability to
identify systemconfiguration and vulnerabilities issues. The lab also
revealed how robust, powerful and easy the GUI mode was to use.
Moreover, the most informative of this lesson was that the Nessus
scanning tool is widely used because of itcontinuously updated CVE
(common vulnerabilities andexposures) database that’s relevant to a
number of OS andapplications along with its preconfigured modules for
quick start-up and scan, a huge plus for any organization wanted to stay
compliant.
