Preview: CIS357 : Advanced Internetworking

CIS337 (Internetworking Basics)
This course builds on student knowledge of networking fundamentals in teaching them to design and
configure wide-area networks (WANs). Students will learn the skills necessary to manage such
networks in a simulated environment. Topics will include advanced network design and switching,
VLANs, advanced router and network management configuration, and network security.

TestOut. 2019. TestOut Routing and Switching Pro available at https://www.strayerbookstore.com
Note: It is crucial that you purchase and activate TestOut and complete the required activities
and labs in order to succeed in this course. You must activate TestOut through the link in
Blackboard – Week 1 (do not go directly to the TestOut website).
This is an 18-month license for all the materials required for both CIS337 and CIS357. Students do
not have to purchase a separate code for CIS357 if they complete both courses within 18 months. It
is highly recommended that students take both classes in consecutive terms.
Access Code: TestOut Routing and Switching Pro has built-in labs. It is accessed using a code that
must be purchased by all students from the Strayer Bookstore. There is no way to complete this

your instructor prior to expiration to request an extension. If the code expires prior to the start of this
course, please contact the bookstore to see if the code qualifies for an extension.

Cisco CCNA and TestOut Routing and Switching Pro
The course content from the CIS337 course combined with the CIS357 course maps to the
objectives of the Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification (200-301 CCNA) as well as the
objectives of the TestOut Routing and Switching Pro Certification.
Students are highly encouraged, but not required, to attempt the certification exam after completing
CIS357. Prior to attempting the certification exam, students should review the requirements
published by the certification vendor to verify that they meet the qualifications. Successfully
completing these two courses does not guarantee that a student will pass the certification exam.
A practice exam is included in CIS357 so that students can assess their preparedness for the
certification exam.
