Case Analysis: Competencies for Project Managers
Introduction
The Leadership Experience case study "Amalgamated Products" examines the leadership
styles of two prominent figures: Ben Jaegar and Phil Jessup. Their different approaches to
leadership highlight the complexity and challenges involved in leading a team. Analyzing each
leader's style, assessing their behaviors, and analyzing their effectiveness will be the objectives
of this analysis. Using these leadership styles as a comparison and contrast, we will examine how
they might approach contemporary issues in Israeli leadership. Lastly, I will evaluate the pros
and cons of potential actions that could mitigate the issues arising from their leadership
approaches.
Ben Jaegar's Leadership Style do not have a header for one paragraph.
In his leadership style, Ben Jaegar inspired and motivated employees to reach their highest
potential. To engage his team emotionally, he emphasized vision and values. This is far too short.
The next title is not needed. The next section could have been part of this section. Citation? Any
time you use information from a source you must cite. This information is from the case study.
Examples of Ben Jaegar's Leadership Actions and Behavior

frequent communication a vision of innovation and excellence for Amalgamated Products.

Empowerment of Employees do not have a heading for one paragraph
It was Ben's goal to encourage employees to take initiative and make independent decisions.
The pros to Jaegar leadership were that it is possible to increase employees' job satisfaction,
creativity, and ownership of their work by empowering them (Goleman,2). The However, the
cons of his leadership beliefs were when not properly guided, the approach can result in
inconsistent decision-making and a lack of alignment with the company's overall strategy. Case

Open Communication
As part of Ben's culture of open communication, all levels of his organization were
encouraged to contribute feedback and suggestions. You need to edit your work. There were some
edits that needed to be made to this paper “Ensure that as many people as possible understand
and accept the vision” (Kotter, 3). A pro example of his leadership theory was
(why is this bolded) as a result, employees felt valued and heard, which led to a higher level of
morale in the workplace. An example of a con of leadership would be that leaders may
sometimes struggle to distinguish between feedback that is most critical and unimportant due to
open communication. Citation from case study?
Phil Jessup's Leadership Style
The leadership style of Phil Jessup was more transactional, focusing on organization,
structure, and results. During his leadership tenure, he put a strong emphasis on operational
efficiency and performance metrics. Some examples of Phil Jessup’s Leadership and behavior
style are Performance Monitoring. An example of Jessup’s performance monitoring is (why is
this bolded?) to evaluate employee productivity, Phil implemented strict performance metrics.
Some of f the pros for Jessup leadership were using (why is this bolded?) data-driven decision-
making. By using data driven it enabled the objective approach to employee performance. A con
to Jessup approach was It made it possible for employees to feel pressured to meet targets instead
of collaborating and being creative when a strict focus on metrics is placed on them. Need a
citation from the case study.
Jessup clearly outlined roles and responsibilities for team members. A pro to his clear
expectations was that it enhanced expectations and improved accountability and efficiency. A con
to Jessup clear expectations was that employees may have felt constrained by their defined roles
and thus it could stifle their creativity. Citation?
An example to Jessup’s structed meetings was that he tracked the progress and addressed
issues, Jessup conducted regular, structured meetings. The pros to his structured meetings were
that they were transparency and accountability was fostered through these meetings. The cons
were that the structured nature of these meetings could lead to a lack of flexibility, preventing
discussions from evolving organically or addressing emerging issues effectively. Citation?
Comparison of Leadership Styles and Similarities
Goal Orientation
Both leaders had the same goal of achieving company goals, but they approached this goal in
different ways. One example of goal orientation was a desire to engage the team. Citation?
Ben inspired his team through inspiration, while Phil set clear expectations to engage them.
Another goal was Understanding the needs of employees. Phil prioritized operational needs,
while Ben prioritized emotional needs. The differences between Jaegar and Jessup were in
communication, Phil preferred a top-down, structured communication style, while Ben prefers
open, inclusive communication. When it came to control vs. empowerment, Phil preferred
performance metrics over controlling and overseeing his employees, whereas Ben empowered
them to make decisions. Also, on the matter of Flexibility versus Rigidity Ben was more flexible
and adaptable than Phil, who adhered more strictly to established procedures. Citation?

issues, such as innovation in technology and building collaborations between diverse
communities. Ben inspired collective action toward societal challenges by promoting a vision of
unity and shared purpose, leveraging the creativity and perspective of everyone. Citation?

structured responses, such as crisis management or operational efficiency. As a result of his
emphasis on performance metrics, organizations in Israel may benefit from streamlined
processes and enhanced accountability in challenging times. Citation?
Addressing Leadership-related Issues
Addressing Ben’s Issues He Set Realistic Goals. Together with Ben, I would develop a vision
that is both ambitious and achievable. the pros of Ben’s realistic goals were that as a result,
employee frustration would be prevented and steady progress towards the overarching vision
would be promoted. The con was that in the pursuit of short-term goals, the team may lose sight
of its long-term vision. Citation?
Phil created an environment that fostered creativity. Within Phil's structured framework, I
would encourage him to incorporate opportunities for brainstorming and creative problem-
solving. A pro to Phil’s issues was that while maintaining accountability, this could enhance
employee engagement and lead to innovative solutions. The cons to Phil’s approach were that
some team members may struggle to adjust to the shift in culture and balance creativity and
structure. Citation?
Conclusion
Despite their differences, Ben Jaegar and Phil Jessup are both effective leaders. Unlike Phil,
Ben's transactional leadership emphasizes structure and accountability, while Phil's
transformational leadership fosters motivation and innovation. Organizations can tailor their
leadership approaches based on their strengths and weaknesses to meet contemporary challenges,
fostering environments that encourage creativity and efficiency. It is possible to achieve greater
organizational success by implementing targeted actions to address the issues arising from their
leadership styles.
