SPT 333 Summary Notes on a Debate
I'm sorry, but I disagree with your assertion that transgender athletes ought to be let to compete
as the gender they identify with. Your major defense appears to be that it will improve their
mental health, self-esteem, and image. But what about the mental health, self-worth, and image
of the biological females who continue to fall short in competition after competition to
transgender women? In what ways does it affect them? They have little chance of beating these
previous guys who are far taller, heavier, and stronger than them in a contest. In his book The
Culture of Narcissism, Christopher Lasch identified the pathological narcissism that exists today.
According to Lasch, narcissism, hedonism, and egoism are the main drivers of modern society's
political and civil rights movements.
They are materialistic, identity, arrogant, and personality at all times. People utterly disregard
logic, science, and reason in favor of their own sentiments and wishes. In the present instance,
the same is taking place. It is all about the transgender community's sentiments at the expense of
fairness, justice, and other people's rights. Depending on the gender, children are born with
various physiologies. Infant boys are substantially heavier, sturdier, and stronger than baby girls,
who are much lighter, weaker, and softer. These variations are brought on by variations in muscle
mass and bone density.
Furthermore, according to their species, youngsters go through significant changes during
puberty. Boys often have more hair, are larger, have more muscle, and have stronger bones than
female athletes, giving them a distinct mechanical edge. Male bones have a larger structure and
more articular surface, which gives them more leverage and a bigger base to support muscle.
Similar to this, female athletes' ligaments tend to be softer and more brittle than those of their
male counterparts. This explains why female athletes suffer from musculoskeletal injuries more
frequently and offers male athletes an edge in contact sports like kicking, striking, and throwing.
Female athletes, on the other hand, have a larger pelvis and a lower center of gravity, which
improves balance.
