How you think using social media and the internet has influenced each of the following
You as an individual
Social media and the internet have personally impacted me both positively
and somewhat negatively. The former is that we have the world at our fingertips.
It allows me to keep in touch with friends and family that live across the country via
FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, or Google platforms. Moreover, I am able to watch television,
listen to music, or e catch up with local and world news .I also gives me the option to
attend online college classes so I can get my degree. It also allows me the e
flexibility to easily pay bills or shop online with the ease of a few clicks; essentially,
purchase just about anything I want online while comparing prices at the same time all from
the comfort of my home. The latter I would have to say that I can become too
immersed surfing the net catching up on current domestic and global events and it can
become a little oblivious to what is going on around me. The e fact that I now can see,
watch, research or listen to just about anything on the net with a e e few clicks on my
smart phone that I sometimes lose track of time.
The study of social science
Social media and the internet have helped scientists the ability to expand their ways of
research
and connect with their colleagues around the world. They can study cultures across the
world and meet people from that culture without leaving their office. While using social
media, it has open doors for scientists to see what people are thinking about and what
their day consists of .It also helps to see what kind of people they surround themselves
with and what activities they enjoy.
e Larger society
In many ways, I think that social media and the internet has somewhat destroyed how people
now
interact with each other compared to when we didn’t have it.
Especially if they become too addicted as some kids and adults have. Before the internet
and social media came along, people had to speak and interact with each other either in
person or by telephone. Now, most kids and adults are only interested in their online
popularity and how many “likes” and “followers” they have. On the other hand, social
media is one of the greatest advancements of our time.
The world has been able to connect on so many different levels that we
could have never imagined before. We now rely on the internet for a
meaningful purpose like working from home, fundraising, meetings, online classes,
connecting with friends and family, shopping, doing background checks to more superficial
things like Facebook, Snapchat, online dating, and Instagram. Businesses use it to help sell
their products with marketing strategies to increase their sales and compare potential
competitors. Social media has also changed peoples’ lives when natural disaster strikes.
These are just a few examples of how our lives have changed with the use of the
internet and social media.
