1-6 Project Part One: Chose Your Issue
The issue I have selected to investigate in the natural sciences is the decline of coral reefs. As a
marine biologist, this issue is of great significance to me both personally and professionally.
Coral reefs are one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet and provide a home to countless
species of marine life. However, due to factors such as climate change, overfishing, and
pollution, these fragile ecosystems are facing significant threats and are declining at an alarming
rate. This issue is not only significant to the marine life that depends on coral reefs for survival,
but also to the millions of people who rely on them for food, livelihoods, and coastal protection.
The loss of coral reefs would have devastating consequences for not only the natural world, but
also for society as a whole. As a marine biologist, it is my duty to investigate and find solutions
to this issue in order to preserve these vital ecosystems for future generations.
