With the recent surge of farm-to-table consumer demands,
businesses are working to find more efficient avenues to keep this a
feasible option without increasing their prices too much. Many
consumers are although open to paying more for sustainable options
that can most commonly be found at a farmer’s market. The problem
comes into play when the local statement underestimates that
suppliers are driving further to get these local produce options. The
benefit of using farm-to-table as an option is that the quality is better
than being mass produced and contains many preservatives. Another
benefit is that the foods are more nutritious due to not having to be
preserved and stored. And lastly, another benefit is that it is
supporting local farmers and farmer’s market. A few risks in this
option is that businesses have had to become more efficient when
sourcing their products and accounting for the distance it is away.
Another risk is that the cost of using farm-to-table is that it is more
expensive due to the cost of getting more sustainable options.
