One of the steps that can be eliminated from the current process flowchart is ‘putting
the leaves in 50 kg bags’ in the farm. The process is irrelevant because in the processing area,
the weighing of the leaves is done again. In order to eliminate the process and encourage lean
practices, the step must be eliminated. By taking this step, the weighing of the leaves will be
done before the start of the processing activity. At this stage weighing can give an accurate
picture of the leaves that have been used as input and the efficiency of the processes can be
increased (Rapid labour force survey of covid-19 impact, 2021).
In the current work process, leaves are dried two times. However there is an
opportunity to eliminate the ‘second drying process.’ Since the first drying process is already
