4-2 Journal: Do You Embrace Change?
An organization’s culture can make change easier or harder. It can affect how change is
communicated and even impact the overall effectiveness of change. If there is no change in the
culture there is really no change at all.
In my past experiences, I was not open to change at all. Being stuck in this toxicity led to
a turbulent period of anxiety, depression, and stress. I knew I had to be open to change to escape
the misery I was in. I reconfigured my mind and became more open to change, as change is a
necessary tool for progression.
In my experience with my old organization, there was no open mindedness to any type of
change it seemed. It was always this is how it has always been and this is how it will always be.
The culture seemed to be lifeless, just robots programmed to do what they are told day in and
day out. The leadership failed to listen actively and implement change in the organization and
that was the root of their downward spiral.
