4-2 Journal: Raising a Teen
Raising children can be the most exciting, fun, joyful, and rewarding experience for
parents. It can also be very challenging, especially during the transition of the child to early
adolescence (ages 10 to 14). For it is at this time when vast changes to the child’s social settings
and body begin to take place. The child’s body begins to change due to puberty which is on
average at age 11 for girls and 12 for boys. Not only will puberty bring physical changes to the
body, but hormones will also bring on emotional changes as well (Gongala, S., 2022).
