After taking the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) questionnaires, I have found that my
ACE score of 6 adverse childhood experiences is in only 15.2% of women and in only 12.5% of
women and men combined from the CDC-Kaiser ACE study (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, 2021). This means that my ACE score is much higher than that of many of the
participants of the study as well as with the general population. With my experiences of
emotional abuse, my results are comparable to the experiences of 13.1% of women and 10.6% of
women and men combined from the CDC-Kaiser ACE study (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, 2021). Additionally, with my experiences of sexual abuse, my results are comparable
to the experiences of 24.7% of women and 20.7% of women and men combined in the study
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2021). With my stepfather being an alcoholic, my
