Introduction: Describe the purpose of your memo and the plan to address the scenario in 1 to 3
sentences.
The purpose of this memo is to provide data on how different audiences perceive
empathy. Using this data, the company can target specific audiences to help non-profit
organizations obtain donations.
Conclusions: Describe your findings in an executive summary of 4 to 6 sentences. Include the
following in your conclusions:
The main points you want to convey to your audience
Rationale for your points in the form of data summaries
By looking at the data we can gather that different social classes have different
responses to empathy. In targeting audiences with a higher empathy score, we can
potentially see better outcomes of non-profit organizations obtaining donations. While
analyzing how each of these social classes respond to empathy we can create different
strategies to cater individually to each social class in order to increase the chances of a
positive response of donations. After studying the data, we can see that most of the
positive responses for empathy fall under the umbrella of participants from the lower
class, working class and upper class, with the middle class averaging the lowest.
However, it's important to note that both the lower and upper classes had significantly
lower number of responses compared to working and middle classes, which could give
us incomplete data on those two subgroups. Therefore, the majority of our strategy
should be focused on targeting the working class, as they have the best odds of
obtaining donations from this audience, but also have some strategy for lower and
upper classes to see if the small sample sizes still provide positive results in donations.
Discussion:
Main Analysis: Describe the summary statistics and frequency distributions, taking into
account the scale of measurement for your data. Refer to the graphs you created. Your
main analysis section should be about 2 to 5 sentences.
After looking at the data, we noticed that the majority of the participants were from
either the working or middle class. Working class had the most responses with 316
(48%), followed closely by middle class with 277 (42%). Lower class had 49 (7%)
responses and lastly upper class only had 18 (3%) responses. Because of this, it's
important to note that we have better sample data from working and middle classes
due to the high number of responses, and not much data from lower and upper classes,
so those averages may not be accurate. After looking at the average of empathy scores,
we notice that upper class scored the highest with an average score of 4.13, followed by
3
lower class with 4.06, working class with 4.04, and lastly middle class with 3.97.
Although upper and lower classes had the highest average score, it's important to note
that they also had the least amount of responses, therefore their data could be an
inaccurate representation. The highest average with the biggest response size goes to
working class who had 48% of all responses and an average score of 4.04, only .09 pts
away from upper class. Working class also had a large amount of responses but also the
lowest average score, falling below 4 at 3.97.
Graph One: Create a graphical representation of the qualitative (nominal and often
ordinal) data to support your main analysis. Ensure your graph meets the following
criteria:
You include a narrative to introduce your graph into your memo.
Your graph is accurate and objective.
Your graph appropriately represents the data.
You use the appropriate type of graph for the data.
Your graph is labeled appropriately.
Graph Two: Create a graphical representation of the quantitative (interval and/or ratio)
data to support your main analysis. Ensure your graph meets the following criteria:
You include a narrative to introduce your graph into your memo.
Your graph is accurate and objective.
Your graph appropriately represents the data.
You use the appropriate type of graph for the data.

Your graph is labeled appropriately.
Recommendations: Describe the actions you believe your audience should take in 2 to 5
sentences.
I recommend that we focus the majority of our effort into creating a strategy for
working class. They had an average empathy score above 4 (4.04) and enough responses
to consider the data to be accurate. We can also either conduct another survey and try
to gather more data on upper and lower classes to have more accurate data or focus
smaller amounts of effort on lower and upper classes to see if the rate of donations are
positive. Although, working class score under 4 (3.97) it is still a relative positive score,
and we could also put a smaller amount of effort in creating a strategy for this social
class.
Limitations: Describe the limitations of both your data and your summaries in 1 to 3
sentences.
The biggest limitations here are the small amount of responses from both the lower and
upper classes. Although they had the two highest average scores of empathy, the
averages were gathered from small sample sizes. So we cannot assume that this data is
completely accurate.
