The EI domain that was my highest was self-regulation. It was 14 out of 15. Honestly, I think some of my
results were surprising and some were not. It was a little bit of both. The one that surprised me was my
lowest score which was ethical judgement. It was an 8 out of 15. I think emotional intelligence will help
me overcome life challenges by not reacting to people's reactions and knowing why their reaction
occurred in the first place. In our text it says, "Researchers have found that emotionally intelligent
people often have great leadership potential" (Myers & DeWall, 2016). I want to have a high emotional
intelligence that will help me achieve my goals by helping me realize my potential and seek more
opportunities to improve myself or career further.
Awareness of my EI score can relate to many things. I am going to talk about how it relates to self-care.
On the assessment it was called self-regulation, and it was my highest score. Being able to recognize my
own emotions and being aware of what certain emotions can distract me from my goals is something
that I am very thankful to have. To know your own mental state is especially important. It also relates to
ethics. When you think about other people's reactions to your own actions or words it is ethical
judgment. "Increasing your ethical judgment will help you make good decisions and respond
constructively to emotional situations" (Myers & DeWall, 2016).
