• Why are you in school?
I am in school to prove to my grandchildren that it is never too late to start something
new, and you can always go back to a former goal and complete it.
• What are your strengths?
My strengths are problem-solving and self-motivation. Very useful skills in today’s busy
world.
• How do you learn best?
I generally learn best when I am figuring things out on my own through trial and error.
• What are your skills?
My team at work has learned I have many skills. Problem-solving is probably at the top
of the list, but I also deal with a variety of personalities and become adept at
negotiating personality conflicts and helping my team stay safe at work when they find
their home life overwhelming, mainly through listening and being non-judgmental.
• What skills do you want to improve upon or learn?
The skills I would like to see improvement in are patience and emotional control. I am a
very transparent person, and my emotions can cause me to make detrimental snap
judgments that I realize a short time later would have better to step back and evaluate
before reacting.
• What are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy training others. This includes all ages from the youth I volunteer with to the
adults I instruct through our CPR/first aid classes. See your knowledge passed on and
employed by others is a great feeling. I also enjoy riding motorcycles, motorboating,
camping, and reading,
• What problems would you like to address in the world?
Is this where I say world peace, ending hunger, and curing cancer? I try to make the
world better by empowering the youth I have the privilege to interact with. They are
the future and by teaching them, and helping them develop their own skills, they will
solve many of the issues facing the world today. They will then pass that on to the next
generation and allow them to tackle the new problems that arise.
• Where do you envision yourself in five years?
In 5 years, I see myself continuing to improve myself, advancing at work, and providing
the best life possible for my family. This includes plenty of family time as I have learned
getting wrapped up in making their lives better can take away from the all-important
interactions that they want.
• Which of the programmatic course themes is most relevant to your career or goals for
personal growth?
o Self-care
o Social justice
o Emotional intelligence
o Career connections
o Ethics
Self-care will always be relevant to my personal growth. I must remember to take care
of myself because if I do not, I cannot take care of those that need me. I also cannot
continue to improve myself and reach my goals if I am not healthy enough physically or
mentally.
