Why are you in school?
I am in school to complete my degrees to become a nurse
practitioner. I love to learn and grow as an individual. Finishing my
schooling will allow me to reach my goal of helping people in the
medical field to better their health.
What are your strengths?
My strengths are organization, empathy, detail orientation, and
problem solving. All of these strengths are vital in my choice of
career.
How do you learn best?
I learn procedures or physical activities best by watching one time
then trying myself hands on to complete whatever task I am learning.
I also do well trying to work out a problem that no one else can seem
to solve by using whatever tool I can utilize. I tend to take on tasks
that other people choose to avoid because it is too difficult. I do not
like to rely on others to do a job so I will learn whatever skill I need to
learn to achieve that task by whatever means I need to learn it. a
What are your skills?
I have many skills including medical skills, customer service skills,
technology skills, multitasking ability and a genuine want to always
better myself.
What skills do you want to improve upon or learn?
The skill I always want to improve upon is my medical skills. The
world of medicine is constantly changing with time and it is important
to keep up with those changes. Improving on my skills and learning
new skills is imperative in the field I have chosen.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I love to take photos and spend time with my family. I love to look
through them all remembering the memories but I never have the
time to do anything with them because I live such a busy life. I am not
sure if I am quite crafty enough to scrapbook but making photo books
eventually is something I would like to do when I have time.
What problems would you like to address in the world?
What brought me into the field of medicine was an accident and the
amazing care I received by the paramedics and medical staff at the
hospital. My mission in life is to be that person for others who are in a
crisis. Caring for those that can't care for themselves and being a rock
for them to hold on to when there is no one else.
Where do you envision yourself in five years?
I envision myself as a nurse practitioner caring for patients with my
loving family by my side and financially stable.
Which of the programmatic course themes is most relevant to your
career or goals for personal growth?
Self-care
Social justice
Emotional intelligence
Career connections
Ethics
Career connections and ethics are the most relevant themes to my
career for personal growth. In order to succeed, I must have strong
career connections and personal relationships with my co-workers. I
need to stay true to the ethics of my job to make a difference for my
patients and improve their well-being.
The photo I chose and attached is a photo of a nurse practitioner
assessing a child during an exam. She is creating trust and developing
a long standing relationship with her patient while she examines her.
This is how I envision my patient encounters once I achieve my nurse
practitioner licensure.
