I had never heard of this experiment before. The first question is if
this is the right approach to the idea of intelligence. I mean, this is one
way, but I do not think it is the only way. It is the same as with how
our education system is being questioned because of how there is
only one sort of test for everyone, and how it only tests certain areas
of intelligence. But going back to this computer test, I do not think
that the computer is intelligent. It is true that the computers were
taught what they know just as a person is, but as the video explained,
it is more of an elaborate deception. Kind of like magic. Even though
it looks like something disappeared, and the person could be fooled
into thinking it did, it really is just a big deception.
a Human thinking and machine computing are similar in the sense
that both can learn. Both can store memory for later retrieval. When
given instructions, both can act on them, or remember them for later.
Some differences include that the human brain can ‘forget’
information. While the computer can also delete information, it is a
task that is done on purpose. Humans cannot think to forget
something.
a No, I do not think that computers can ever be as intelligent as
humans. We are so complex and amazing as beings, and we cannot
recreate that into something artificial. Intelligence isn’t just about
numbers, words, and memory. It is so much more. Including things
such as emotions. Emotional Intelligence is important, and that is
something that a computer will never have. It might have protocols
and understand what to do in certain situations, but it does not have
free will. And it cannot possibly FEEL like we do.
a Emotional Intelligence is part of our intelligence as humans. It
allows us to assess ourselves and others. We can make more rational
and wise decisions the higher emotional intelligence we have. We can
better take care of ourselves and others too. Emotional Intelligence is
key to a happy life, and there is no doubt we excel in this area above
all other creatures and computers. a
