POL-210 American Politics
5-3 Final Project Milestone Three Rough Draft
The subject of gun regulation has generated considerable debate among both the general
population and political/governing authorities. A regrettable array of offenses, including killings
and massacres, have kept universal background checks in the spotlight. State by state, gun
owners frequently express their views on gun control and how various laws fundamentally
violate their constitutional rights. Given the recent and recent history of gun violence, it is not
unexpected to see the government taking action to limit its effects. Using control as a weapon
against violence is a superb strategy. Inspections, a prohibition on "semi automatic rifles," a ban
on armaments, etc. may all be examples of this. As someone who supports firearms restriction,
you might wonder if it works or how effective it is in America. Exist any evaluations or studies
of gun ownership, gun-related fatalities or injuries, etc.? In their view, gun regulation is
unlawful, a kind of government intrusion that robs people of their right to self-defense by
reducing the amount of ammunition they can carry. I can't declare that I'm against gun laws. I do
concur, though, that rights and freedoms shouldn't be violated.
There seems to be just as much support for gun regulation as there is against it given how
divisive the topic is. Many groups may be found on both ends of the political spectrum. A group
called the Brady Campaign to Reduce Gun Violence strives to lower gun violence in the US
through activism, public awareness campaigns, and academic research. The Brady Campaign
aims to enact and enforce gun control laws on a local, state, and federal level, such as
background checks for all gun purchases and restrictions on specific types of weapons. The
group also aims to raise public awareness of the risks associated with gun violence and the
significance of responsible gun ownership (United Against Gun Violence 1974). A group called
Everytown for Gun Safety is dedicated to promote sensible gun legislation and public accident
prevention to combat weapon violence. At the local, state, and federal levels, Everytown works
to enact and enforce gun control laws, such as those mandating background checks for all gun
sales and permitting police to temporarily confiscate weapons from people who may be at risk of
killing themselves or others. The group also aims to raise public awareness of the risks
associated with gun violence and the significance of responsible gun ownership (Everytown For
Gun Safety 2013). A group called the Giffords Law Center to Reduce Gun Violence seeks to
lower gun violence via advocacy and legal action. At the municipal, state, and federal levels, the
Giffords Law Center seeks to develop and enforce gun control legislation, including as laws
outlawing bump stocks and providing for potentially dangerous mitigation. The group also works
to lobby for restrictions on firearms in the mainstream and to oppose legislation that undermine
limits on guns in trial (Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence 1993).
There are other organizations that oppose gun control. The National Rifle Association (NRA) is a
group that fights for the Second Amendment and lobbies against laws that would restrict access
to firearms. The NRA strives to oppose any legislation that would impose restrictions on gun
ownership or usage in order to defend the right of individuals to possess and use weapons. The
group also aims to raise public awareness of responsible gun ownership and gun safety (The
National Rifle Association of America 1871). Gun Owners of America (GOA) is a group that
fights for gun rights and lobbies against laws that would restrict access to firearms. The GOA
aims to defend individuals' rights to possess and use weapons and seeks to fight any legislation
that will limit those rights. Furthermore, the group offers tools and data on accountable weapon
possession and firearms training (Gun Owners of America 1976). Second Amendment
Foundation (SAF) is an organization that aims to safeguard the Second Amendment and oppose
gun control legislation. The SAF aims to defend individuals' rights to possess and use weapons
and works to fight any legislation that will limit those rights. The group also promotes gun rights
