Jeff's attitude toward social responsibility is clear that social
responsibility is not his priority but staying ahead of the competition is.
Though his company has done nearly everything or is planning on
doing everything that Donavines is doing as far as being
environmentally friendly/ going green. The only real concern that Jeff
has is that Donavines has marketed their reasonable environmental
impact. aa And Jeff truly cares about public opinion so the company has
already made reasonable green changes that may be standard in that
industry but his concern is that he did not market it properly. And
marketing things that make the company look good in the eyes of the
community increase the effectiveness of branding and make people like
the company, and more likely to use it.

aa So Perrys does not need to respond to Donavines because that will
cause tensions to rise and potentially start a more ill-mannered
competition between the two companies. But Perries should absolutely
raise awareness that they are a green company, but they need to be
strategic about this in order to not increase competition. This is
because goodwill from the community can be really valuable for the
company because the people you help and hurt in business are going
to be the ones to make the company more profitable by being good
connections and or clients, whereas if you are not green or your
company is having bad effects on the community it will inevitably hurt
the business. This is why businesses help the communities in which
they reside. Therefore Perry’s Printing should publish what they or
others may be proud of as far as their environmental and social
impact. But they should not put it in a way that is a response to
Donovans, they should introduce what they want to say in an original
format like Donavan did.

The answer is a clear yes. Because there are many different levels of
sustainability. Boing carbon and water neutral are classic ones but for
large companies and or major manufacturers, giving back to the
community sets them apart. And goodwill has the potential to be
extremely valuable long term. Yes, it generally is cheaper and more
unique to not be green, but if something happens your company will
not look good because they were not even trying. An example of this
that stands out to me is the auto industry planting a ton of trees.
Everyone knows that carbon dioxide is a major cause of global
warming, and a lot of it comes from automobiles and trucks. Therefore
when anyone is trying to make a big deal about the auto industry
being terrible for the environment, they can respond with we planted
this many trees. Even if the number is not even close to making the
companies at stake carbon-neutral, it will still make the company look
good, socially and politically, and this will hopefully lead to rulings and
profitability in favor of the auto industry.
