As a plant manager, upon reviewing the issues revolving around Bob’s
performance, one specific error made by Bob is customers
complaining about every item in a shipment containing defects.
Considering this issue, Bob must implement a change to avoid similar
problems in the future: quality control. The measures implemented to
ensure uniform rules and standards regarding the items and services
that businesses offer customers are called the quality control
procedure. No matter the company's products or services, it could
still utilize a quality control method. The quality control process
entails defining quality standards, regularly assessing items to ensure
they correspond with the requirements, and deleting those that do
not (Becker and Jaak kola, 2020). It also ensures that those producing
things or offering services have the knowledge and training required
to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
The validation processes of an organization are often enhanced by
quality management standards, which also help to lower human error.
The employees like Bob are given a set of rules to follow when doing
their daily business, which reduces inconsistency and guarantees
consistency. Employees who are going through transition should
constantly get involved and get focused. This involves sharing
information and participating in a way that promotes the benefit of
everyone instead of simply their interests. The plant manager's
expertise or experience can motivate the employees (Bushed and
Lewis, 2023).
Employees tend to carry out their duties accurately when provided
with the necessary training to help them comprehend their positions
and develop their abilities. As a result, there should be an effort to
implement comprehensive training programs that adequately train
workers for success as they proceed into new roles. Additionally,
ongoing staff growth can be promoted by utilizing counselling
systems, corporate retreats, meetings, workshops, and other training
initiatives (Nyati et al., 2021). These strategies can assist the workers
like Bob in growing and perfecting their roles, which will allow them
to work better.
To maintain an atmosphere of quality, change management is crucial.
Quality improvement creates network and workflow modifications
that result in performance improvements. Quality-related change
might take the shape of something distinct, like a modified
contractual approval procedure as an outcome of a QI project, or it
might take the shape of anything beneficial, like a total transition to a
company approach and atmosphere that supports quality. In both
situations, organizational and routine adjustments take place, and
effective change management is essential to adapting employees to
the new environment (Yue et al., 2019).
As the plant manager, I would propose to Bob that we would have a
meeting to address the negative aspects of his performance. I would
want to ask Bob why does he feel that his performance has declined. I
would ask certain questions as to why the shipments are having many
defects that are being discovered from customers. I would ask Bob
does he have a team to assist with the inspection of the inventory?
Change Management is a process in which the company implements
change within the internal and external processes. (ASQ (2023) I
would challenge Bob to work on ways to increase the quality of his
performance. I would encourage him to not give up and remind him
that he is a great employee. I would provide as much support that I
can to Bob. He may need support such as additional team members
that would need to back him up. Providing positive feedback is
essential to allowing employees to get back on track which in turn can
improve performance.
