Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, you will meet these learning objectives:
Explain the importance of communication in change
management
Explain the importance of model leadership behavior in
change management
Differentiate between the roles of a change facilitator and
a change leader
Module Overview
In Module Six, you created a change management plan to help the
organization implement required changes. Now it is time to think
about how you will communicate this plan and changes to employees.
Lack of effective and timely communication is often the cause of crises
in businesses. In any organization, change becomes very difficult to roll
out and manage without robust communication practices.
This module covers the importance of communication in triggering and
managing change. It describes the key differences between formal and
informal communication and explains how to use both forms of
communication.
In this module, you will explore the three communication processes of
uniformity, fidelity, and models of implementation that play an
important role in the implementation of organizational change.
Additionally, you will explore the five dimensions of communication
strategy, including disseminating information or soliciting feedback,
one-sided or two-sided messaging, gain or loss frame, blanket or target
messages, and discrepancy or efficacy.
Leaders are expected to demonstrate behaviors that will inspire the
workforce. Leaders and facilitators of change need to initiate
communications regarding the change. Stakeholders and implementors
of change will turn to you with their thoughts—positive or negative—
related to the change at hand. As a manager and a leader, it will be
your responsibility to address their concerns, answer their questions,
and respond to any resistance.
In this module, as you continue in your role as an HR consultant, you
will create a memo emphasizing the importance of demonstrating
model leadership behavior to manage any sort of change, especially in
a crisis. You will also share your expectations and understanding of the
course project requirements.
