MBA 687 10-1 Discussion: Wrap-Up
An example of a change I went through when I moved from a regular office job to a remote
working setting, I recently went through a metamorphosis. I had to quickly become used to
new procedures, technology, and methods of communication with my coworkers. In order to
effectively manage projects and maintain communication with my team, I had to learn how
to use a variety of software, internet resources, and communication channels.
Based on the topics covered in change management I now think that I ought to have
changed my strategy when moving to a remote working environment after completing this
course. I ought to have spent more time learning about the ramifications of the shift and
what they would entail for my team and I. I should have developed a transition strategy and
an instance of a transition that I went through. My recent transition from a regular office job
to one that allows me to work from home was one that forced me to adapt to new
circumstances. I was forced to rapidly adapt to new technology, processes, and ways of
communication with my coworkers in order to keep my job. In order to effectively manage
projects and maintain communication with my team, I was required to become proficient in
the usage of a variety of apps, web tools, and communication platforms.
Taking into account the skills in change management that were covered after completing
this training, I had the distinct impression that I should have gone about adjusting to a
remote working environment with a different strategy. I should have made the effort to
comprehend the repercussions of the adjustment and what it would entail for both myself
and my colleagues before agreeing to implement it. My transition should have been
supported by a plan, and I should have prepared one.
