9-1 Project Submission Part Three: Organizational Structure and Culture Report 2
Organizational Structure and Culture Report
As a global automobile manufacturer and distributor, our company faces the challenge of
maintaining a competitive edge in an industry where innovation and market demands constantly
evolve. In this essay, we will discuss the effectiveness of our company's organizational structure
in supporting innovation, addressing changes in market demand, and fostering a culture of
innovation. We will also consider the impact of our current culture on innovation and how
recommended changes can make the enterprise more responsive to market demand.
Organizational Structure and its Impact on Innovation
Our company operates under a tall matrixed structure characterized by a complex
hierarchy and specialized centers of excellence (COEs). While this structure allows for deep
knowledge and expertise, it also creates functional silos and reduced cross-functional
coordination, potentially hindering innovation. Moreover, decision-making tends to be slow due
to the cumbersome nature of tall structures and communication challenges.
The current automobile market landscape has significantly shifted towards IoT-connected
cars, which are projected to grow from $54 billion in 2019 to over $510 billion by 2030. In order
to maintain a competitive edge, our company needs to accelerate innovation and adapt to these
market changes.
