STRATEGY BUSINESS PLAN
Definition of a Business Strategy
A business strategy is basically a clear set of directives that outline how an organization
will gain a competitive advantage in a particular market by selling its products or services to
customers.
Formulation of Strategy
The business strategy highlights the company’s vision and mission statements, the
advantages of its products or services, and who is its target audience. The company’s plans for
systematic growth and how they will base their decisions. And finally, this strategy must include
a clear vision for future expansion.
Responsibilities of Leadership
Those in leadership positions are responsible for communicating clear and precise
objectives to be carried out, delegating authority, assigning teams, and cultivating a culture
conducive to its goals and values for its mission to be accomplished.
Corporate Unit Strategy vs. Business Unit Strategy
Corporate strategies focus on the organization’s competitiveness in its industry whereas
the business unit strategy focuses on the competitiveness of the product or service it offers the
customer. Corporation strategies describe its ambition or vision in the industry it competes such
as whether they want to stay local or go global, and how they stand up against its rivals. Business
unit strategies are carried out by department heads, and they are responsible for achieving
objectives and goals pertaining to selling products or providing efficient hospitality services.
