Convincing leadership to adopt change can be a challenging process.
The biggest factor for success in this type of initiative is buy in from
senior leadership. Middle management will never truly adopt
anything that they do not see their bosses doing and living. Senior
leadership should use themselves as examples of the effectiveness of
the adaptive toolkit - how they evaluated themselves, found areas
for improvement, and achieved a goal to better themselves as
leaders. By taking this approach the message accompanying the
toolkit becomes "do this with us" instead of "do this or else", which
will have a big impact on successful adoption. In order to ensure the
long-term success of something like the toolkit, it must be
incorporated into the organization's values and core leadership
practices. Without such formal incorporation into the organization's
identity, it is more likely to be seen a "flavor of the week/month" by
people in leadership.
