An important practice to ensure the successfulness of an organization’s capital
plan is the need to develop an interim life safety plan that meets the needs of
the facility. This practice is to ensure that all patients, staff, and visitors in the
hospital work in a safe environment during times of building repair or
construction. This practice is designed around one important thing which is the
safety of all individual in the hospital (Touchstone,2011). The interim life
safety plan includes should be posted in visible locations. It should include exit
signs, designed areas for safe assembly, clear pathways to egress points, to fire
protection systems and smoke barriers, to evacuation plans
(Touchstone,2011). A successful interim life safety plan offers protection and
zero interruptions to patient care and hospital operations. This practice is about
providing an easy way to evacuate in case of emergency. It protects members
of the healthcare team, patients, and visitors. (Safety Management Group, n.d).
