Strengths
The Memorial Hospital has several strengths which would help it to implement a health
information exchange system. One of the core strengths is the availability of electronic patient
information via Electronic Medical Records (EMR) by all the providers in the network. Another
strength is the availability of a functional clinical data warehouse (CDW) as well as an
accompanying data dictionary that illustrates the gathered data type, structures, formats and
usage components. These CDW and data dictionary could facilitate interoperability and enhance
the sharing of data and information in the healthcare context. Interoperability would play a
cardinal role and aid in the implementation of a new a health information exchange system
(Oyeyemi & Scott, 2018).
