Star Wars was created by George Lucas and released in theaters on May 25, 1977
(Britannica, 2022). This space opera was later retitled as . Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope–
Star Wars was met with immediate box office success. The film originally only opened in 42
theaters and earned close to $3 million in its first week. By the end of the summer of 1977, the
film had grossed $100 million (Britannica, 2022). The success of Star Wars prompted two sequels,
