An interesting wellness related topic that has come up over the last
couple of years is the social anxiety that has come from the
lockdowns. Covid-19 set the world into full shutdown and especially
schools where close contact was nearly unavoidable, this caused
children to get their education through remote settings. School isn't
just about the education that is given in the classrooms but the social
skills that are learned through interactions with others. I've always
wondered how prolonged isolation can affect social skills and the
mental health of adults and even mainly children. Especially since
children are so impacted by change and circumstances.
Natural and applied sciences work with this topic based on how
research can be done to help prevent social anxiety from occurring.
With the widespread adoption of remote work and some individuals
still not ready to approach the world socially still. It will be important
for science to see how we can stop or help prevent social anxiety
from occurring in adults and children. It will especially be important
for children as we enter into a more disconnected world due to
technological advancements. Maintaining a proper society also
entails having proper social skills so that way individuals can problem
solve with one another rather than purely being independent or
having fear of being around others.
