An item of cultural expression that I think relates to wellness, is
music. The reason I chose music, is because it affects people in
different ways and is something we use to cope mentally at times.
Part of wellness, is physically taking care of yourself and we listen to
music while we work out. Whether its lifting weights, cardio or
sports; when you listen to music it can elevate or relax your mood.
The lyrics as well, can put you in a work out mentality and make you
think positively. Another part of wellness, is your mental state and
music can play apart of that depending on your mood. Ours moods
change and we may be sad, happy or angry; which results in choosing
different styles of music. Listening to music as well, calms us down
and can lower our heart/blood rates. Culturally, you have all types of
music; that you have grew up on or has had an impact of some type
on your life. Types of music include: country, rock & roll, pop, heavy
metal, r&b and hip hop. Every grows up in different cultures, and
music plays to people's: mood, mentality and overall feeling. The
social message my cultural expression is communicating about
wellness, is that music affects you: mentally, physically and
emotionally throughout life. Music is a huge cultural expression,
because it enables us to think, show emotion and relate to what may
be happening. The social implications of this message, are to
continue to gather research and see if it can impact our society in a
positive way. That means, seeing what music is making differences
and impacting people in a productive way. That can be done by doing
online surveys or reviewing album sales to see their influence on
different cultures. Overall, music relates to wellness because it can
put you in good state of mind and give you a better feeling mood
wise. Everyone listens to music for motivation or to feel good. This is
my analysis on cultural expression.
