There are many forms of cultural expression that can relate to
wellness and one that comes to mine are the mindfulness and
meditation videos that utilize certain variations of music to help calm
or relax people in certain instances. Musical therapies have shown to
reduce stress, positively affect mood and emotions and can even
help with memory recall and much more (Scheve, A.M. 2004).
The social message that these videos communicate about wellness is
the importance of self-care and taking time for your own well-being.
These videos help you to take the time and re-focus and can even
help with the utilization of stress-reducing coping skills.
If more people utilized these forms of musical therapy I think the
social implications could be that more people would have higher
emotional intelligence, form coping skills and increase their own
thoughts on wellness and expand the want and/or need for more
wellness related programs within a community.
