1. How has your understanding of wellness been enhanced as a result of
analyzing it through the four lenses?
When I think back upon first entering this class and looking back at all the
classes I have taken throughout my time with SNHU I have always enjoyed
looking at the different lenses. I can think back to writing a paper about 2
different art pieces and looking through various lenses. When encountering this
in this class I had some background on what I needed to be doing which was
helpful. Wellness on the other hand was something I never really understood
completely. I had some ideas about wellness and its importance. As someone
who is not really a religious person I still believe that having spiritual wellness is
important and I am always supportive of those who have a strong religious
belief because to me that is important for everyone to have. I do not worry about
what religion it is because I think in the end it is what speaks to us and who we
are. My mental wellness is challenged daily as I struggle with my own problems
of social anxiety and depression. Wellness is so much more than being
physically fit. I learned a lot about the brain and other things through this course
as well as my other course I was taking.
1. What are the potential implications of current discussions about wellness
for the future? You may consider any future you like, such as the future of
your community or the future of humankind.
I think social media is a huge factor that we need to be discussing as we move
forward. I think the impacts of social media and how it plays into what we are all
feeling and thinking have become a challenge. It is also very hard to be social in
this day in age as I think many people have become accustomed to working from
home and not wanting to go out. Some people have developed anxiety about
even leaving their homes now that things are back to normal. These different
things have caused wellness to plummet and there is so much unknown about
what is going on that it makes it challenging. I think if we can bring a more
positive light to social media and allow ourselves to be free from technology and
get back to experiencing the world together and being and feeling safe in that
environment is very important.
1. How do you believe the critical analysis skills learned in this course will
support you going forward personally, academically, and/or
professionally?
For me being able to observe and see the world from different views and being
able to process things is what will help me the most. I am working towards a
business degree and I really want to be able to analyze the business and business
ideas from different perspectives. I think a lot of this will help me as well as help
me determine what I can be most passionate about and enjoy doing. I think
personally it has helped me step back and ask the question what can I do
different to be better. It has allowed me to open up and ask what people see in me
and what I can do better to provide for what is going on.
