"Wellness is the act of practicing healthy habits daily to attain better
physical and mental health outcomes so that instead of just surviving,
you're
thriving
. To understand the significance of Wellness, it's
important to understand how it's linked to health. (Pfizer). According
to the World Health Organization (WHO), health is "a state of complete
physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of
disease or infirmity." (WHO)
It seems that Wellness is something in which a person must physically
or mentally participateexercise, diet, therapy, creativity, yoga, and
education could all be seen as activities that one could practice to
achieve Wellness. One can be ill but still, experience wellness. Wellness
is such a broad term; it is different for everyone. I would suggest that
people have become more aware of the benefits of pursuing it.
As a writer, I do suffer from anxiety about my work, as I think many in
creative professions do. I have been suffering from depression for
many years; I think it is getting more common these days, especially
with Covid. What saddens me is that even though depression as a
mental illness is much more understood now, it still has a stigma about
it. I do know many people who are ashamed of their condition.
