The specific wellness topic that has been selected to be evaluated from the four
education interdisciplinary lenses relates to work-life balance. In the 21st century, most of
the people lead a hectic lifestyle that compromises their work-life balance and adversely
impacts their wellness. According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), working
time is one of the key factors that can either help in facilitating work-life balance or hinder
it (Work-life balance, 2021). The topic has been chosen as it is of high relevance for
almost every working professional in the contemporary times. The lack of proper work-life
balance can take a toll on an individual’s physical as well as psychological well-being.
Application of the history lens
The management of work and personal life has been an important topic. Apart from
handling one’s profession, it is necessary to allocate significant time to the personal life
aspects as well so that neither of the domains will be neglected. In the former times when
the work setting was less complex and less competitive., individuals were able to prioritize
their personal and professional lives. However, in the modern times, the complexity
associated with the topic of work-life balance has increased. Currently, most working
professionals have been struggling to strike a healthy balance between their work and the
diverse domains of their life. bb
Application of humanities lens
The topic concerning work-life balance can be seen through the humanities lenses. It
basically revolves around human actions. The prevailing work context has become
extremely challenging due to the high intensity of competition. In the globalized era,
individuals operating in the labor market face intense pressure to sustain and survive in the

dynamic professional setting. In order to thrive and earn their living, people have been
giving high priority to their work-life and focusing on areas such as developing new skills
and abilities. Due to such an inclination, the focus on their personal lives has been at the
receiving end. The immense pressure that individuals face in their professional lives has the
potential to not only take a toll on their personal life but also deteriorate their level of
wellness (Rahim et al., 2019).
Application of natural and applied sciences lens
The topic of work-life balance can be evaluated through the natural and applied
sciences lens to understand the scientific implications that arise in the specific domain. It is
imperative for individuals to allocate their time towards their personal as well as
professional lives (Gragnano et al., 2020). The lack of proper balance between these areas
can adversely affect the psychological wellness of a person by causing stress and mental
fatigue. Additionally, in the work domain, it can take a toll by diminishing the level of job
satisfaction.
Application of social sciences lens
While working, it is vital for individuals to focus on the relationships that they
share with their colleagues without neglecting their personal relationships and bonds.
Establishing healthy relationships with others in diverse settings is vital for promoting
individual well-being and sustaining strong associations (Rahim et al., 2019).
