First Slide – Gender Equality
Hi Class, my name is Sidney and for my final project I have chosen to research the diversity within
gender equality.
Second Slide – Gender Equality
In their daily lives, people's ethnic and cultural backgrounds have an impact on the way they behave and
interact with one another. In addition to race, diversity encompasses a variety of other personal
characteristics such as gender, age, religion, and a variety of other similar characteristics, amongst
others. It is essential for the process of embracing one's differences that everyone is treated equally.
Men and women must be treated equally, according to the United Nations, in order for human rights to
be realized for all. It is essential for everyone in today's society to be able to succeed, regardless of their
sexual orientation, and gender equality is critical to that success. Because of this policy, people's self-
confidence, economic growth, and overall quality of life can all be boosted, which is beneficial to
everyone. Women have had to deal with prejudice and discrimination based on their sexual orientation
for thousands of years, and this has only gotten worse in recent years. As a result of recent
advancements, women are increasingly taking on positions of greater responsibility in the workplace.
Third Slide – The History
Women have never been treated on an equal basis with men, and this has been the case since the
beginning of time. In the United States, women did not gain the right to vote until the year 1920. The
19th Amendment ensures that all American women, regardless of their gender, have the right to vote in
elections. A number of generations of women's suffrage advocates lectured, wrote, marched, lobbied,
and engaged in civil disobedience from the mid-19th century onward in order to achieve what many
Americans considered to be a radical change in the United States Constitution.
Fourth Slide – History Continued – The Feminist Movement
When the vast majority of women leave their homes and enter the workforce, they are said to have
reached a tipping point. In the midst of World War II, when approximately 350,000 women actively
participated in the military or found employment in industries that had previously been reserved for
men, Rosie the Riveter rose to prominence as a feminist icon. In order to cover for the men who were
away fighting in the war, women were called upon to step in. Because of this, when the war came to an
end, many women were forced to leave their jobs in order to make way for returning servicemen.
