abstract section critically to understand the gist of the article and going through the
conclusion after reviewing the title. These are simple as well as effective steps that helped
me to get a comprehensive insight into the article before going through the entire work.
The steps that I found the most difficult about reading the particular article were
exploring the sources that were provided in citation and the material and methods section.
There were some sections in the article that I found difficulty in understanding. For
instance, the cluster analysis that was used for the metal source identification purpose was
challenging due to my limited understanding of the analytical concept. Similarly, the
understanding of the statistical analysis section in the scholarly article seemed complicated
as the analysis was conducted for each of the experiments separately.
The main idea of the article is to assess the carbon dioxide assimilation and the
metals leaf deposition of 7 evergreen shrub species. The carbon dioxide (CO2) assimilation
(Experiment 1) and carbon allocation (Experiment 2) had been ascertained in year 2011
and 2012 respectively (Mori et al., 2016). A third experiment was carried out to measure
seasonal leaf depositions of Cu, Cd, Pb, Ni, and Zn. The article has examined the
potential of some of the scrubs that can sequester the pollutants in the air and assimilate
carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The information that has been produced could be
valuable for technicians and planners as it could help them to effectively manage urban
green areas. Thus the different experiments that have been conducted shed light not just
on CO2 assimilation but also air pollutants mitigation approaches by using scrubs (Mori
et al., 2016).
