The differences between human services professionals and non-
professionals are the services they provide to the client. All services
offered should show a commitment to the client and concern for their
well-being no matter what capacity they are servicing. From my
experience in the field, some non-professional services would include
transportation drivers, custodians, cooks, and volunteers, all
providing services catered to improving the quality of life for an
individual. So whether intra-agency or inter-agency, they are
organized services that provide services to meet the needs of the
individual. Working as a team in the human services field is crucial.
Whether working as a professional or non-professional, you should
provide outstanding services. Lives depend on you to have a helping
relationship because they require assistance to help them navigate
life. It would help if you understood the needs of the population you
serve to be an asset in their lives. They are counting on the services
they seek out. So the differences are the services they provide and
the similarities they are working collectively to provide services to
improve an individual's life.
