The first organization I found was the National Association of Social
Workers (NASW). If you are a BSW and MSW Student, the annual
membership is $60, and if you are a Doctoral Student, the annual
membership is $179. Some benefit the organization offers students is
that it helps the individual build a strong and satisfying social work
career, and gain real-world knowledge of the profession and the
communities social workers serve that goes beyond a textbook and
degree. Also, if you join this organization as a student, you can get a
cheaper membership rate after graduation for a few years. I would
join this organization because it would help me gain the knowledge
and experiences needed in order to succeed in this career field.
The second organization I found was the American Society for Public
Administration (ASPA). If you are a student, the membership cost for
this organization is $60. A benefit for joining this organization is that
organizational members receive discounts on events and services and
are among the first to hear about special opportunities. I would join
this organization because I would be one of the first to hear about a
special opportunity or event and that would come in my favor,
especially since it pertains to my career field.
