The first organization I will be talking about is NOHS. For a student, it costs $35 to join. The
benefits of joining this organization include being featured on social media, access to scholarships,
career help, volunteer opportunities, and the ability to present your work at NOHS conferences
(Stinchcomb 2022). Personally, I would consider joining. I find it amazing that they offer these
resources for those interested in human services. c
The second organization I will be talking about is the Council for standards in human service
education. The price of the membership ranges on which degree you are after. For an associate's
degree, it is $750, for a bachelor's, it is $1000, and masters is $1250 (CSHSE 2022). This
organization's mission is to improve the quality of human service programs and assure that the best
practices are evidence-based and peer-reviewed (CSHSE 2022). I think this would be a good
program to join if I needed more help with my degree.
Students can become members of the National Organization for Human Services (NOHS) for the
cost of $35.00. NOHS is a nonprofit organization that represents Human Services workers whose
goal is to help individuals and communities’ function at their best. Student memberships include
benefits such as access to scholarships, career development, and volunteer opportunities.
Students can also become members of the National Human Services Assembly by sending an
email inquiry to membership@nassembly.org The National Human Services Assembly
"...promotes collaboration among engaged organizations to advance the collective power,
knowledge, strategy, and systems that build well-being within individuals and our communities."
(National Human Services Assembly, 2022)
The two Professional Organization I chose are The Wyoming Counseling Association and The
American Counseling Association. The reason that I chose these particular organizations are:
1- The Education
2- The support for new professionals
3-The Advocacy for others
There are so many benefits to this association. The student fee is 35$ to join as a student and it's a
yearly fee. In summary this organization helps grow the professional personally and offers support
to network with other professionals within the counseling field. This organization offers:
• Advocacy for Counselors
• Promotion for members through awards
• Opportunities for Leadership Development
• Opportunities to Serve in Office
• Networking Opportunities
• Mentor New Professionals
• Promote Ethical Practice
• Professional Representation of Local, State, and National Levels
• Advocate for Professionals and Clients
• Improve Our Communities
• Collaborate across Disciplines
• Online Job Postings
• Staying Current with Trends and Issues
• Supporting the Future of Counseling in Wyoming
• Ability to Present and Share your Expertise
• Investing in the Profession and Future of Counseling in Wyoming.
(Wyoming Counseling Association, 2019)
The second Professional Organization I researched is The American Counseling Association. The
membership fee is $105 dollars for students. The concern is that the student membership is for
Graduate and Doctorial Students. I'm going to further my education and pursue a master's degree
in Mental Health Counseling. I'm really interested in getting my master in mental health
counseling because dealing with a lot of mental health cases substance use is usually involved.
Some of what this organization offers include: Advocacy, Credibility, Liability Insurance,
Professional Ethics, Consultations, Continuing Education Credits Valued at $264 dollars, Virtual
Conferences, Discounts on Books, American Counseling Association Foundation grants for
Members who apply for Support, Discounts for Car Rentals, Advocacy Toolkit.
(American Counseling Association, 2022).
One of the organizations I chose to investigate is The National Association for Social Workers; it
is $60 to join. It is an excellent organization for students. It offers benefits like discounts on
licensing tests and prep test courses.
The Social work student membership is open to anyone currently enrolled in a CSWE-accredited
social work degree program or a program eligible for candidacy. Eligibility for the BSW and/or
MSW student membership category is limited to four years for each degree over the lifetime of
membership (does not need to be continuous). Doctoral student membership is for those enrolled
in social work or social welfare programs. NASW student members may apply for discounted
professional liability insurance for student field placement.

Social workers join the (NASW) to get advancements in future career choices, connect with
colleagues, and protect their businesses. They also advocate for the profession and discuss
prominent issues nationally through networking. NASW members abide by the professional Code
of Ethics and represent their field best.
• Social work is complex, and resources for clients can be limited. When social workers
unite by joining NASW, the social work profession has a more prominent voice and more
influence with elected leaders, policymakers, and employers to make critical changes that
support the field of human services and society.

Those joining NASW while a student, the organization will help you build a solid social work
career. Students can also gain real-world experience and knowledge that is way more valuable
than what a textbook can teach. This organization would be one that I would join because of the
networking part and its commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
NASW Anti-Racism Statement
"The mission of social work is to enhance human well-being and help meet the basic needs of all
people, with particular attention to those who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty. To
honor this mission and realize our core professional values, we must understand and commit to
doing our part in abolishing racist and oppressive systems."
The NASW Board approved NASW's Anti-racism statement of Directors at its January 2022
meeting.

The second organization I chose was The National Organization for Human Services.
It costs $35.00 per year for students to join.
The organization works to transform individuals and their communities. They provide professional
development opportunities, promote certifications, and advocate for social change. One cause is
helping the reconnection children at the Mexico border be reconnected. The National Organization
for Human Services (NOHS) represents Human Service practitioners, educators, students, and
future Human Service Professionals. NOHS works to support all Human Service Professionals in
our primary purpose to assist individuals and communities in functioning as effectively as possible
in all major domains of living.
