Organization would be National Organization of Human Services (NOHS). as I browsed through
the link, I saw some amazing perks this organization offers. For only 1 period as a student the
organization charges $28.00 for a membership fee. Also, the perks such as free resume evaluation,
Volunteering opportunities, eligibility to apply for members-only scholarships and grant, and
preparation for joining the Human Service field. The NOHS also provides scholarly peer-reviewed
journals, which could be a skilful tool to research and know that this is legit resource. Membership

The second organization, which I am willing to participate soon, boys and girls club. As I browsed
the site for this discussion, I noticed that I could volunteer at my local boys and girls club. Their
mission "To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full
potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens". Has inspired me to become apart children's
lives, especially in the city I'm from it's nothing but violence in every direction. And their vision
"Provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person
who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the
future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle". This
organization inspires me to become a part of their lives, to help Mold our children to becoming
successful adults. Our Mission & Story (bgca.org)
The first organization I found was the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). If you are
a BSW and MSW Student, the annual membership is $60, and if you are a Doctoral Student, the
annual membership is $179. Some benefit the organization offers students is that it helps the
individual build a strong and satisfying social work career, and gain real-world knowledge of the
profession and the communities social workers serve that goes beyond a textbook and degree.
Also, if you join this organization as a student, you can get a cheaper membership rate after
graduation for a few years. I would join this organization because it would help me gain the
knowledge and experiences needed to succeed in this career field.
The second organization I found was the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA). If
you are a student, the membership cost for this organization is $60. A benefit for joining this
organization is that organizational members receive discounts on events and services and are
among the first to hear about special opportunities. I would join this organization because I would
be one of the first to hear about a special opportunity or event and that would come in my favor,
especially since it pertains to my career field.
NAMI offers three options for membership; $60/yr for a household, $40/yr for an individual
membership, and $5/yr for an individual with limited financial resources. Membership grants you
a subscription to the NAMI Advocate magazine, discounted national convention rate, and member-
only online content. I am a card-carrying member of NAMI and have been for several years. This
organization provides a wealth of information, resources, and support. In addition, NAMI works
with legislators to develop and pass mental health-supportive legislation. Fun fact: during this
course and through the development of our final project; I was in the process of applying &
interviewing for the position I highlighted in my paper, Family Peer Support Specialist. Sadly, I
had to turn the job down as it was a significant pay cut I could not absorb. Nonetheless, NAMI is
doing amazing things to help those and their families navigate through mental illnesses.
The second organization is the National Organization for Human Services (NOHS):

NOHS also offers three levels of membership; student at $35/yr, new professionals at $50/yr, and
practitioner & educator/faculty at $95/yr. Each level of membership has different benefits. For
example, student membership includes access to scholarships, free resume evaluation, the
opportunity to be highlighted on social media, and access to a human services-specific job board.
The new professional membership includes career development resources as well as volunteering
opportunities. The educators/faculty level includes leadership opportunities within the
organization projects and committees, lesson planning tools, and networking resources. I would
join this organization as it appears to be all-encompassing within the realm of human services. I
like the opportunities for networking, job postings, and help for students.
The first organization that I chose is one from this module The National Organization for Human
Services. The cost for a student to join this organization is $35 per year. This organization offers
scholarships, student spotlights, and career development, and volunteering opportunities. I feel
like this would be a great organization to join as the price is low especially for the benefits offered
by the organizations.
The second organization that I chose is The National Association of Social Workers. The cost is
$60 a year for an associate membership. The benefits of this organization is career development,
protecting your practice, connecting with colleagues and having your voice heard. This would be a
great organization to join for my future.
The first human services organization I chose was National Organization for Human Services
(NOHS); which is "a nonprofit organization representing Human Service practitioners, educators,
students and future Human Service Professionals." Basically, the NOHS goal is to help Human
Service Professionals on all levels help their communities grow and become stronger on all levels.
"We believe in:
• The capacity of human growth and change.
• Advocating for social justice.
• Recognizing and utilizing peoples' strengths and abilities.
• Supporting physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
• Promoting collaboration and accountability.
• Including all members of the human services community."
There are various price points within the organization scaling from a student in the field to a retired
individual. The pricing scales from 35.00 as a student up to 95.00. Different Agencies, Human Service
Providers and Educational Institutions pricing may vary as well. There are definitely perks to joining
this organization I can see just based on career development and networking. This organization helps
with promoting you as a student through linked in and other social media, resume assist and ways to
get involved in your community. If I was going to be a Human Services major I would definitely look
into this as 35.00 is definitely worth the benefits that come from joining.
The second human services organization I chose was The National Human Services Assembly. First
off this organization is so vast in what information is available from joining. The National Human
Services Assembly focuses on various initiatives and and public policy. This ranges from advocacy
for minority groups, youth, people with disabilities and the elderly. The organization also focuses on
social justice and equity which is I feel very passionate about personally. c There are so many benefits
to joining this organization and so many non-profit organizations that partner with the assembly. The
organization offers savings on office supplies, travel, telecommunications, and more. They offer
various memberships for access:
"Types of Membership
• Full Membership: A nonprofit organization that is primarily focused on providing human
services.
• Associate Membership: A nonprofit organization that has a substantial interest in
human/social services and/or the broader nonprofit sector.
• Purchasing Point Membership: A nonprofit organization outside of the human service
sector to share the group purchasing program with their network or members."
